About Cat Kemble

Welcome to Cat Kemble! I'm so thrilled to have you here, and I can't wait to share my story with you. Let me take you on a journey through my creative endeavours, starting from the moment it all began...

In 2018, I found myself battling anxiety attacks and searching for an outlet to calm my mind. That's when I discovered the therapeutic art of crochet. With every stitch, I could feel the tension melt away and a sense of tranquility enveloping me. Inspired by this newfound passion, I started creating beautiful crochet items.

I decided to open an Etsy store. Initially, it was a part-time side hustle alongside my job at the NHS to share my creations with the world. The store became a platform for me to showcase my creations.

As life progressed, I became a mother to two young toddlers. In the midst of caring for my little ones, I found myself experimenting with seagrass belly baskets for nursery storage. I adorned these baskets with pompoms, crochet handles, and my husband hand-painted them. To my delight, they quickly gained popularity!

The year 2020 brought unforeseen challenges as the pandemic swept the globe. My husband, Jim, who had been working as a digital designer, unfortunately lost his job. It was during this trying time that I realised the potential of my side hustle and the power of his digital marketing skills.

I urged Jim to put his job search on hold and join forces with me to turn our passion into a full-time business. With his expertise, we successfully secured a store front on the popular British website, notonthehighstreet.com. This significant step propelled our company's growth, allowing us to reach a wider audience and share our creations with even more people.

As we entered 2021, a new product design emerged as a game-changer for our business—the personalised nursery name signs. These unique and thoughtful creations quickly captured the hearts of many, further expanding our company's reach. With the demand increasing, we were fortunate enough to welcome two incredibly talented and crafty neighbours, Kelly and Laura, to our team.

Fast forward to 2023, and I felt the desire to give back to my growing following. I wanted to share my crochet skills and provide value to others who were as passionate about the craft as I am. That's when I made the decision to launch a YouTube channel dedicated to crochet tutorials. This exciting endeavor prompted a major rebranding of our Etsy, Not On The High Street, and website platforms.

Behind the scenes, Jim plays a vital role in our journey. He edits the videos for my YouTube channel and takes care of the technical aspects of all our platforms and branding. Together, we make a dynamic duo, combining our passions and skills to create a thriving business.

Thank you for joining me on this incredible adventure. I invite you to explore our creations, immerse yourself in the world of crochet, and become a part of our vibrant and supportive community. Together, let's embark on a journey of creativity, inspiration, and endless possibilities.
